Colin’s Pickups #2

Pants. And a lot of it. I was gifted most of these or found it on a crazy sale. Probably won’t be getting much stuff for the foreseeable future (or that’s what my mom tries to tell me).

It’s a world of drip.

And I’m drowning in it.

Buying this was a real come-to-Jesus moment for me. This isn’t really a recent purchase but my favorite pair that I own as of today; selvedge, natural indigo, and some dense cotton. The quality is phenomenal and normally it’s priced upwards of $250. I got it for around $150 in Japan. Exchange rates + tax-free shopping = jeans.

This was on my wanted list for so long and I hesitated to pull the trigger for so long. I worried about the price and the fit but I finally chose to get it as gift from (multiple) other people. It is probably the best-made pant I own. Not a single loose stitch, RiRi zippers (article on that later), and a very unique design from the big pockets. Made from Minted New York (unfortunately, I’ll no longer gatekeep).

Sturdy chinos. Actually, let me rephrase that. GIANT, sturdy chinos. These were longer than I’ll ever be and massive. Got these tailored (where the tailor complemented the fabric) and now they fit great. Feel surprisingly light so I’ll definitely use it for the summer. Also, these were gifted.

I was just searching up “Todd Snyder sale” in the middle of class because I’m a loser and these popped up immediately. Knowing TS, they usually didn’t mark down their prices enough for me to afford. However, these were a different story. Normally priced at $198, it was displayed as $55. I couldn’t believe my eyes and inputted my mother’s credit card information faster than she could utter the word no. It’s selvedge denim and for that price…unbeatable. It also opened my eyes because these are much slimmer than I normally wear but I actually found myself loving this straight-cut.

Another great deal. Originally priced at $148, I managed to get it for $42. It has a herringbone twill fabric (which is why I liked it so much) and the fit is great. The construction is not great as there’s many loose threads across the seams, so I was glad that I bought it for a cheaper price. The fabric is definitely high quality though.

This was a grail piece for me. I saw it on a Youtube video months back when I was getting into clothes and I loved the pattern. It was consistently out of stock and the price was also out of my range. However, some months later, I saved up enough to buy it and I was very surprised (both good and bad). I loved the design, fit, and texture of the knit and it was also extremely dense. It kept me very warm during the winter but was also great for spring because the knit-type allowed for a lot of breathability. I’m also a fan of the thick collar. The cons: because of the way its knit, it’s pretty fragile and can rip with enough physical force. Also, the cuffs stretch out to become kind of loose. But overall, I don’t regret it.

Gifted from my brother. It’s a type of sports jacket and I like the design and fit of it. Very great for those colder days when you want to be active because the outside is a type of material windbreaking material while the inside is lined with a fleece-like insulating fabric. Also, you can’t buy this so it’s special.

Another gift. Great shirt, great graphic, great construction. Also, I’m a fan of Dime. A great breath of fresh air from Stussy.

Watch. Gifted to me. It’s a lovely Tiffany blue-esque color and has a dive-watch feel to it. Has a Seiko movement inside with a rotating bezel and a sapphire crystal (meaning the glass is very scratch resistant). I think the price is around $300 so the value of this is insane. The lightning bolt second-hand is a great feature too.
